Annyssa
Bellal was born in 1973 and is of Swiss nationality. She obtained a first
degree in international relations at the Graduate Institute of International
Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. As she became more interested in human rights
law, she received a second degree in Law from the University of Geneva, and a
Masters Degree in Philosophy of Law from the Universities of Lyon/Grenoble,
France. After a three months experience in a human rights NGO in Colombia, she
came back at the Graduate Institute of international relations where she
obtained her Masters Degree in Public International Law. Annyssa Bellal begun
her doctoral thesis in 2000, on the influence of human rights on the evolution
of public international law, while working as a research and teaching assistant
at the Law Faculty of the University of Geneva. She is currently a Global
Research Fellow within the Hauser Global Law School Program at NYU
