Maya Steinitz (Israel)

Maya
Steinitz completed her LLB degree in Law in March 1999 at the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem, Israel. She clerked for a Judge in the Tel Aviv District Court
and than proceeded to graduate legal studies. She completed an LLM in
international law and legal philosophy at NYU and is currently pursuing a
doctorate in international law and legal philosophy at NYU. The working title
of Ms. Steinitz's dissertation is "Law as Authority: A Concept of International
Law".
In
addition to her academic pursuits, Ms. Steinitz interned at the United Nations
High Commissioner of Refugees (UNHCR), Consulted the International Rescue
Committee (IRC) on International Refugee Law and women's rights and worked in
private law firms. Prior to her graduate studies, Ms. Steinitz was heavily
involved in human rights and women's rights work in Israel.
During
her tenure as an Emile Noel Fellow, Ms. Steinitz will be writing an article
about the Milosevic trial and the social function of the International Criminal
Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. |
